Minimum QualificationsDevelopmental Disabilities Camp Counselor 4 must be 18 years of age. Preference is given to individuals with education or experience in therapeutic recreation or camp programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. Prior education and/or experience may be a factor in determining appointment/assignment. Additional requirements may be applied depending on the operating needs of the DDSO.
Duties DescriptionThe Developmental Disabilities Camp Counselor 4 (Activity Head) is responsible for their activity area (example: Arts and Crafts, Music and Drama, Aquatics). S/he plans the activities, reviews the activity plans with the Assistant Director, orders supplies for the respective area, maintains records of camper participation, assists with camper supervision, meals, and assisted daily living skills. Activity Heads participate in night patrols and in the supervision of the cabins, as assigned. They are also responsible for setting up camp prior to its opening, ordering the necessary equipment, and reporting any problems to the Camp Director, so they can be fixed prior to opening. At the end of the camp season Developmental Disabilities Camp Counselors 4 are responsible for putting everything in order, and taking inventory of all equipment.

You would be assisting the campers with recreational activities, dining objectives, their personal hygiene and any other tasks that require assistance.
